October 26, 2018 - Kitchener, ON - Deep Trekker Inc. is a leading industry expert in infrastructure technology. The company’s pipe crawlers and ROVs have been used for various inspections and submersible maintenance projects around the globe and it continues to reach new heights with its latest innovations. Today, Deep Trekker releases its submersible tether reel designed to work with both ROVs and Pipe Crawlers.
The newly constructed tether reel is designed to be submerged in the sea either as part of a larger system, as a standalone submerged tether management system or within pressurized and non pressurized pipes, allowing operators to save time and money during inspections. As communities and regulators place demand on maintaining and improving infrastructure in cost effective ways, there is an increasing need for cities and municipalities to adopt this technology. Furthermore, with the ever-increasing subsea robotics industry, this innovation will allow for greater flexibility in ROV, submerged vehicles, and AUV projects.
The submersible tether reel is designed with a rugged aluminum frame, and contains a waterproof electrical slip ring. It can hold up to 100 metres of specially designed Deep Trekker tether.
“As we move forward in the potable sewage and wastewater industry, having the capabilities to perform pipe inspections in pressurized pipes will help operators save time and money, and work towards safer and more efficient operations,” says Sam Macdonald, President, Deep Trekker Inc.
Deep Trekker Inc. was founded in 2010 with a mission to create portable, affordable, and easy to use harsh environment robotic inspection tools. The company is headquartered in Ontario Canada, with engineering and manufacturing all completed in house. Based on a clean sheet design, the premiere product, the DTG2 ROV was introduced in August 2011. Since that time, Deep Trekker Inc has developed 5 robot lines including 2 ROVs, 2 submersible crawler systems and subsurface inspection cameras. With sales in over 80 countries, Deep Trekker robots can be found in industries ranging from aquaculture to municipal contracting, military, search and rescue, shipping, infrastructure and more.
