Deep Trekker hosts its first ever Chile ROV Olympics in the city of Puerto Montt. ROV pilots from all over Chile put their skills to the test for their chance to win their own Deep Trekker DTG2 Smart ROV.
October 18, 2018 - Puerto Montt, Chile –On your mark, get set, go! Deep Trekker hosts its first ever ROV Olympics in the city of Puerto Montt, Chile. ROV pilots from all over the country gathered to put their skills to the test for their chance to earn the title of Chile's Top ROV Pilot and to win their own DTG2 Remotely Operated Vehicle(Now DTG3).
The Olympics included four main events - fish pushing using the Deep Trekker mort retrieval, golf ball bucket challenge with a robotic gripper, slalom and lastly, clipping carabiners - in which Chilean participants were tested based on the fastest time to complete each challenge. The overall winner was determined by adding up the times for each challenge, together.
Deep Trekker is pleased to announce PABLO SEBASTIAN as Chile's Top ROV Pilot and winner of the Chile ROV Olympics 2018. We would also like to acknowledge winners of each challenge: MIGUEL ANGEL; fastest time in the Fish Pushing category, CRISTOBAL MATIAS; fastest time in the Golf Ball challenge, and FELIPE MORALES; fastest time in the Carabiner Clip challenge.
"I love Deep Trekker. For me, using the robots is not work, Deep Trekker is my passion," says Pablo Sebastian, Chile's Top ROV Pilot
Many of the Olympic participants operate ROVs and perform inspections on a daily basis on aquaculture sites all over Chile. Among the diverse aquaculture practiced in Chile, Atlantic salmon is overwhelmingly the largest sector, providing 60,000 direct and indirect jobs and supplying nearly $3.8 billion in exports worldwide. For these pilots, operating a Deep Trekker ROV is their profession and their livelihood.
