In the past we might only be able to do 1, maybe 2 reservoirs a day. Utilizing the Deep Trekker ROV we’re able to do 4, 5, 6 reservoirs in a day. Typically it takes a dive team an hour and a half/two hours to setup, do hour long inspection, then another hour and a half/two hour tear down. The Deep Trekker ROV goes down and essentially accomplishes it in about 15 minutes.

One of the partners in this project that we're currently working on actually had a Deep Trekker and they found it really great and their ROV was actually several years old so investigating the type of equipment to use we automatically reached out to him because it was such great success and such a durable and it was used like in coastlines and in salt water by other indigenous groups and we thought it was the best fit to use that.
Before the ROV, we were really stuck on shore, quite literally. Which wasn’t a bad thing at first, but when we got the right funding we were able to expand our research which then opened up a plethora of different types of programs. One funding led to getting the Deep Trekker ROV, which then led to more and more funding and more programs. So, we’re really in the biggest piece of our marine conservation work.
With the Deep Trekker ROV, we were able to go down, clamp right onto the top of the screen so when the diver has to go down and do the work you weren’t just dropping down into the abyss hoping you were gonna hit the bottom. You had something to hold on to…I’m on site, there’s no hazards. It saves us time and peace of mind.
